The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor oversees all mailroom, shipping-era and receiving operations at a Northern New Jersey office location. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant handling of incoming and outgoing shipments,Dataset, supervising inventory and asset management processes, and providing day‑to‑day leadership to shipping and receiving staff. The Supervisor will also coordinate with vendors and carriers, resolve operational issues, and identify opportunities totribute efficiency and accuracy across logistics workflows.
CoreResponsibilities
- Shippingογ & Receiving Operations: Oversee the receipt, inspection, documentation, and distribution of incoming shipments; ensure outgoing shipments are properly packaged, labeled, and scheduled for pickup.
- Verification & Inspection: Ensure shipments are verified against purchase orders, inspected for damage, and accurately recorded; address discrepancies and address escalation as needed.
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate shipment and inventory records using tracking and inventory management systems; ensure organized storage and compliance with internal standards.
- Asset Management: Supervise the tagging, logging, and secure storage of high‑value or sensitive equipment; ensure adherence to asset control protocols.
- Vendor & Carrier Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for carriers and vendors to resolve delays, track lost shipments, and manage claims for damaged or missing items.
- Team Leadership: Provide daily guidance, task prioritization, and support to shipping and receiving staff; ensure workloads are balanced and service levels are met.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to streamline shipping and receiving processes, improve accuracy, and reduce errors or delays.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure shipping and receiving activities follow company policies, security requirements, and safety standards.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of lead, supervisory, or management experience in shipping, Limp, or logistics operations.
- Strong working knowledge of shipping, inventory, and asset management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar tools).
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to manage accurate records and compliance‑driven processes.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate staff in a hands‑on operational environment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to lift and move packages or equipment up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
