JOB SUMMARY

The Payroll Accountant has the main responsibility of the overall payroll process, ensuring payroll processing is accurate, resolving payroll problems, ensuring compliance with governmental laws on payroll accounting and taxes, assisting in the preparation of the monthly financial statements and various financial account reconciliations, assisting in the financial analysis performed on our various clinics, assists in the preparation of the annual operating budgets, and the preparation of various supporting work papers to be used by our external auditors and preparers of the annual cost reports and audit.

The Payroll Accountant reports to the Director of Finance.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education:
    • Graduate from a recognized College or University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a major in Accounting.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Non required.
  • Work Experience:
    • At least two years’ experience in an appropriate field of Accounting, preferably in a payroll function.
  • RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES
  • Responsible for the overall payroll process as to the computing of timecards in accordance with the approved hospital policies, verifying the data entered in the payroll system, and ensuring timely completion and submission.
  • Responsible for the overall process pertaining to the direct deposit of employee paychecks. Consists of processing the payroll on a timely basis to ensure that the payroll information is transmitted to and received by our depositary bank by their established time deadlines to be properly credited to the employee’s bank account by 9:00 AM on that payroll Friday, and also working with the various bank representatives investigating any problems that are encountered with this direct deposit process.
  • Process the necessary A/P invoices and/or reports to pay the bi-weekly payroll and related payroll deductions within the required time constraints as mandated by the government and various vendors. Also responsible for other A/P duties as assigned.
  • Assists in monthly financial close process and reconciliation of assigned accounts. Includes preparation of annual work papers and reports for external auditors and annual regulatory filings.
  • Assists in monthly accounting tasks as assigned, including the review of income and expense account activity, and works with department directors when they have questions related to revenue, expense, and statistical activity within their cost centers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
