JOB SUMMARY:
The Emergency Department Paramedic provides advanced pre-hospital and emergency care to patients in the Emergency Department (ED). Working under the direction of physicians and nurses, the ED Paramedic plays a crucial role in the care team by performing clinical procedures, assisting with patient assessments, and ensuring rapid and efficient treatment of patients with urgent medical needs. This role requires strong clinical skills, the ability to work effectively under pressure, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
The Emergency Department Paramedic reports directly to the Charge Nurse/Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Completion of an accredited Paramedic program is required.
- Licensure/Certification: Current, unrestricted Paramedic license in MO or National Registry Licensure. BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required. Certification in PHTLS or TNCC is required.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Paramedic in EMS or hospital emergency department setting is preferred.
- Skills: Strong clinical skills, excellent communication, ability to work in high-pressure environments, proficiency in EHR and medical equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES/
JOB DUTIES:
- Patient Assessment & Triage Support: Assist with initial assessment, vital signs, medical history, and rapid assessments. Collaborate with healthcare team to prioritize care. Monitor and report patient condition changes.
- Clinical Procedures & Interventions: Perform advanced life support procedures, assist with emergency procedures, administer medications and monitor for reactions.
- Patient Care Support: Provide direct care, assist with activities of daily living, prepare patients for procedures, assist with patient transfers, and communicate effectively with the healthcare team. Educate patients and families as directed.
- Documentation & Compliance: Document all activities accurately in EHR, ensure compliance with policies and standards, participate in quality improvement activities.
- Equipment Management & Maintenance: Operate and maintain medical equipment, ensure readiness, report malfunctions.
- Professional Development: Stay current with EMS advances, participate in training and meetings, mentor less experienced staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
