The Ultrasound Technologist performs ultrasound imaging studies as directed by a physician’s order. The technologist must be capable of providing patient care for all age groups from newborns to seniors.
The Ultrasound Technologist reports directly to the Ultrasound Chief Technologist.
Qualifications:- Education: High School diploma or equivalent; graduate of an accredited Ultrasound program.
- Certification: Must be registered in Diagnostic Ultrasound by ARDMS or ARRT.
- Licensure: Certification in Ultrasound Technology by ARDMS or ARRT required.
- Work Experience: Preferably a minimum of 2 years as a staff technologist, with capabilities deemed adequate by the department head.
- Apply proper techniques and patient positioning to produce high-quality ultrasound images.
- Participate in on-call procedures.
- Assist physicians with ultrasound procedures.
- Ensure ultrasound equipment operates correctly by following manufacturer’s instructions and calling for repairs when needed.
- Maintain necessary supplies in the department.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with policies, rules, and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Support organizational and departmental mission.
- Understand and support the hospital’s strategic plan and key initiatives.
- Promote teamwork within the department and organization.
- Resolve conflicts constructively and promptly.
- Communicate effectively and clearly with patients and colleagues.
- Maintain a positive, courteous attitude towards all contacts.

- Requires lifting and positioning patients.
- Involves lifting and carrying supplies.
- Standing and walking for extended periods daily.
- Possible exposure to infections and communicable diseases during patient contact.
