The national Help Me Grow (HMG) framework supports families with young children through four core components, including Family and Community Outreach. Help Me Grow Skagit builds a continuum of development supports to increase school readiness and promote wellbeing. This VISTA member serves with United General District 304 as part of the Children’s Council of Skagit County’s Help Me Grow Skagit program.
District 304’s purpose is Building Healthier Communities, with priority outcomes achieved through program areas aligned with CNCS goals of healthy futures:
Active Living, Community & Professional Education, Engaged Youth & Communities, Healthy Eating, Thriving Children & Families, and Stewarding Assets & Opportunities.

Member Duties- A Help Me Grow (HMG) Skagit VISTA will promote school readiness and success for young children by collaborating to improve parent education, early connection, and family resource utilization.
- This VISTA member will lead initiatives to identify existing parent support programs in Skagit County and assess gaps.
- Develop ways to track, organize, and share parenting information and updates regularly.
- Provide promotion and outreach of parenting information across the community.
- Support long-term coordination, growth, and sustainability of the parenting program infrastructure within HMG implementation.
- Engage in resource development, training & education, and cultivation/maintenance of partnerships to improve outcomes for local children and families and build capacity for sustained impact.
