Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Medical (Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Variable)
SalarySalary range: $22.10 – $33.12 (variable based on education, training, experience, seniority, etc.)
Job SummaryAssists professional nursing personnel in providing quality, compassionate patient care by performing tasks involving direct and indirect patient care, using skills and knowledge in basic nursing assistant procedures and techniques under direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
Essential Functions- Assists in providing direct patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse within the scope of the CNA licensure.
- Performs basic technical skills such as CPR; recording vital signs; measuring & recording fluid intake/output; applying dressings; recognizing and reporting signs and symptoms of common diseases or conditions; administering treatments as directed by a physician or nurse.
- Assists patient with personal care including bathing; mouth and skin care; grooming and dressing; toileting assistance; eating and hydration.
- Provides patients with help walking, exercising, and moving in and out of bed.
- Maintains unit supplies by stocking patient rooms and supply areas to meet patient care needs.
- Documents relevant patient care data.
- May provide clerical support to the unit, such as order entry, chart processing, answering telephones, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Certified Nursing Assistant from an accredited program.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year (preferred experience in an acute care facility).
- Graduate of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant program.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age‑specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs.
Credentials:
- Certified Nurse Assistant – Washington.
- Basic Life Support upon hire.

- Demonstrates a courteous, caring, and understanding attitude towards patients, families, coworkers, visitors, volunteers, peers, and physicians. (Required)
- Well organized, flexible, and able to function effectively and independently. (Required)
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment. (Required)
- Demonstrates creative problem‑solving skills. (Required)
- Excellent communication skills. (Required)
- Basic computer, clerical, phone etiquette, and customer service skills. (Required)
Working Conditions – Lifting:
- Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without assistive equipment (NIOSH).
- Fine motor skills for controlling medical equipment and performing precise procedures.
- Push/Pull up to 45 lbs. force (e.g., medical carts).
- Perform hands‑on CPR at least 20 mins using 100–125 lbs. of force; frequency seldom or occasionally.
- Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
- Bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling frequently.
- Lifting (non‑patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
Environmental Conditions:
- Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
Mental/Visual:
- Vision and hearing within normal limits; glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted.
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
