Position: (3063) Crisis Clinician, Diversion Center (7p – 7a)

Overview

Diversion Center provides 24/7 access to immediate crisis assessment and intervention services in a facility-based setting. Diversion Center’s primary referral sources are local law enforcement, emergency departments, and other behavioral health first responders. The Bluebonnet Trails Diversion Center model is highlighted within Texas planning resources. Our Vision is Healthy and Fulfilled Lives, and the Diversion Center offers an interdisciplinary team supporting adults in crisis through evaluation and assessment, medication management, safety planning, and care coordination.

Our Mission is to continuously improve the health and independence of the persons we serve, and the Diversion Center provides critical access to care to stabilize a crisis while diverting individuals from jail, emergency rooms, and hospitalization.

Critical Impact:

At its core, the Diversion Center provides an option for expedited access to immediate behavioral health treatment, with a focus on pre-arrest jail diversion and recidivism reduction. The Diversion Center Crisis Clinician provides clinical care to individuals on the unit, including intake, assessment, treatment planning, discharge planning, and safety planning. Additionally, the Crisis Clinician collaborates with the interdisciplinary team and contractors to maintain Diversion Center’s essential operations, including during emergencies and disasters.

Position

The Crisis Clinician must possess an aptitude for working both independently and collaboratively. Cross training to support other crisis programs, including Crisis Respite Unit, Mobile and Youth Crisis Outreach Team, and Youth Therapeutic Respite is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engages in de-escalation and crisis intervention with empathy
  • Provide person-centered services in alignment with the Center’s mission and values
  • Builds relationships with colleagues, collaborating across programs, seeking and offering input towards shared goals and objectives
  • Provide individual and group services within the residential program
  • Complete all required unit and agency training, maintaining awareness of best practices and program policy and procedure
Compensation
  • Hourly Salary Range: $24.23 – $37.98
  • $2.00/hr – 2 years previous crisis experience
  • $1.50/hr – 4 years previous crisis experience
  • $1.00/hr – 2 years previous experience at community center in similar role
  • $1.00/hr – 4 years previous experience at community center in similar role
  • $1.00/hr – Master’s Degree in Human Services
  • $1.00/hr – Advanced Licensure
  • $1.00/hr – Ph.D.
  • $0.50 – LCDC Licensure
  • Up to $4.00/hour – BTCS Tenure
  • On-Call per shift (Crisis/Jail Diversion) – $30/day
  • On-Call Hourly Differential (Crisis/Jail Diversion) – $1.75/hr
Shift Differentials
  • Evening – $2.00/hr
  • Overnight – $4.00/hr

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a human services field, comprehensive knowledge of mental health diagnoses, and ability to work as a team member within a fast-paced, recovery-focused environment. A minimum of two years of case management experience is required. Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain approved driver status throughout employment. If the degree is not in a human services field, a minimum of 24 college credits in a human services field is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree; pursuing clinical licensure in counseling, applied behavior analysis, family therapy, social work or a related field. Licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). Bilingual in ASL or Spanish preferred; experience in providing concurrent documentation preferred.
