Description

DSHS Direct Support Professional/Attendant Counselor 2 Want to put your passion to work? In this job, you will assist adults with developmental disabilities to live full, empowered lives. This position serves as a relief charge, assigns work assignments to lower-level Attendant Counselor’s. Including, checks and inventories client clothing and personal possessions, living unit or home supplies, and other inventories; completes work orders, maintains client records and other related records, and makes reports.

This position will be located at , where you’ll interact with clients in a residential living atmosphere, providing care and engaging in therapeutic activities on and off-campus. You’ll partner with residents and their family members, providing choices in all areas of their lives. This is a night shift position 10PM to 6:30AM Tuesday through Saturday.

Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. Evening and night shifts include a shift differential, in addition to the standard compensation rate.

Some of what you will do:
  • Coach, teach, and mentor people with intellectual disabilities
  • Assist and train clients with all areas of daily living skills
  • Implement Individual Support Plan programs, plans, and services
  • Transport and accompany clients to appointments, or other activities in the community
  • Form relationships with people
  • Keep the resident’s living area safe and clean
  • Review, collect, and record participant information and report information that is vital and/or pertinent to home management
  • Utilize an electronic data system to maintain client records and other reports
To start on your new career, we ask that you have:
  • A high school diploma/GED AND one year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities in mental health facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or residential settings.
  • An active CNA/NAC/NAR license
Skills and Abilities:

Ability to: utilize professional and specialized; evaluate and apply established procedures and techniques for those portions of IISP they are responsible for in accordance with this job specification. Carry out assigned responsibilities without direct supervision. Ability to provide accurate and clear written communications both electronically and verbally.
