Managing Quantity Surveyor

Overview

Building a sustainable tomorrow BAM Infrastructure is seeking an experienced and motivated Managing Quantity Surveyor to strengthen our team on a landmark civil engineering project — the Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2). This role will be based at our Drax site in Wren Hall, Selby (North Yorkshire).

As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the following:

• Manage and mentor a commercial team across multiple schemes.
• Liaise closely with the operations team and support services to ensure alignment and collaboration.
• Participate in project performance discussions and contribute commercial insight to strategic decision-making.
• Oversee commercial aspects of multiple projects, ensuring the timely delivery of:
  Monthly cost value reconciliations (CVRs), Cash flow monitoring, Monthly and quarterly financial forecasts, Applications for payment, and Effective change management.
• Ensure compliance with internal commercial processes, procedures, and best practices.
• Work closely with clients and key stakeholders to identify and deliver optimal commercial solutions.
• Represent the company in commercial discussions, negotiations, and progress reviews.
• Ensure adherence to procurement and subcontractor management procedures.
• Provide input and commercial guidance during the pre-construction/tender phases of projects.
• Manage Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) projects or a portfolio of ECI projects from a commercial perspective, including review of contract documentation.

Necessary

• Previous experience of managing a team (ideally across multiple projects)
• Previous experience on civil engineering schemes
• Experience of NEC form of Contract
• Thorough understanding of contractual provisions with a view to be able to comment, review and draft documents.
• Relevant qualification – Degree; HNC/D
