Selby Jennings have partnered with a global commercial insurer to appoint a Commercial Lines Pricing & Portfolio Lead into a senior role within their commercial insurance pricing and portfolio management function.

This is a high-profile position supporting a multi-line commercial insurance portfolio across both digital and traditional channels. The role plays a key part in shaping pricing strategy, portfolio performance, and profitability within a complex, international business.

Rather than being a narrow technical pricing role, this opportunity combines actuarial leadership with broad commercial exposure. You'll act as a senior pricing partner to underwriting, working across regions and functions to influence decision-making and drive sustainable portfolio performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead pricing and portfolio oversight for a multi-line commercial insurance book
  • Drive portfolio performance analysis, profitability reviews, and pricing insight
  • Partner closely with underwriting to influence strategy and improve outcomes
  • Coordinate pricing activity and planning across regional teams
  • Support reinsurance strategy and portfolio optimisation through analytical input
  • Develop and enhance management information, reporting, and performance metrics

    Provide insight on claims, reserving movements, and exposure trends
  • Deliver strategic pricing and portfolio projects with senior stakeholder visibility
  • Mentor and support the development of junior actuaries
Role Requirements
  • Qualified actuary (Fellow or equivalent)
  • Strong experience in actuarial pricing within commercial insurance
  • Broad understanding of property and casualty business; specialty exposure beneficial
  • Proven ability to operate at portfolio level rather than line-by-line pricing
  • Comfortable working in a global or multi-regional environment
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Commercial mindset with the confidence to challenge and influence underwriting
  • Interest in portfolio management, strategy, and leadership rather than pure BAU work
