Position: Student Support Suite Teacher (FT Temporary 2025-26 school year)

Student Support Suite Teacher (FT Temporary 2025-26 school year)

Please note that this is a full-time temporary position for the  school year only. There is no expectation/guarantee of rehire for temporary staff.

POSITION: Student Support Suite/Special Education Teacher, fulltime, temporary

START DATE: February 2026

CERTIFICATION: Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Teacher Certification in Special Education and either middle level or secondary certification, as applicable to the assigned position.

Qualifications
  • Previous experience with supporting challenging student behavior, including analyzing and interpreting data to develop individual student behavior plans.
  • Experience implementing behavior management techniques.
  • Clean Criminal Background Check, Child Protection Registry, and TB clearance required prior to employment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instructional and behavioral support in the Student Support Suite using the educational philosophy and policies adopted by the Board of Education.
  • Master de‑escalating challenging behaviors.
  • Collaborate with teachers, students, and staff to increase student time on‑task and reduce negative behaviors.
  • Utilize state and district curriculum guidelines in carrying out teaching assignments.
  • Use student data and available resources to implement a program of study that meets students’ needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Provide a standards‑based, content‑aligned learning framework that establishes clear goals and objectives for all lessons and assignments.
  • Interpret and use data from a variety of educational sources for instructional improvement.
  • Assess students’ accomplishments regularly and provide reports to classroom teachers as required, notifying parents of progress consistently.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Understand and implement the student’s IEP goals and objectives, and any required accommodations.
  • Collaborate with the student‑support team and parent/guardian to support academic, behavioral, and mental‑health needs.
  • Maintain a professional relationship and work cooperatively with all school personnel.
  • Meet responsibilities as per contractual agreement and state law.
  • Participate in professional growth activities, collaborative groups, and PLCs.
  • Encourage students to behave according to classroom and school rules.
  • Perform other duties as requested by administration to meet student needs.
