*** BHMG Sellersburg, INFull Time Admin MAThe Medical Assistant (MA) Admin role will be responsible for the coordination of patient care activities. This position requires a versatile professional who can seamlessly transition between clinical and administrative responsibilities. Duties include but are not limited to the following: patient medical history information, navigating electronic health records system (EPIC), scheduling and following-up with appointments and assisting with medication fill and refill requests, checking for prior authorizations and scheduling tests, procedures, consultations, and other in basket types as assigned.
The MA will communicate with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients and physicians in a respectful manner and will uphold Baptist’s mission and core values that drive service excellence.

* Perform routine patient assessments, including vital signs, height, weight, and chief complaints.
* Assist healthcare providers during examinations and minor procedures.
* Administer medications and vaccines as directed by healthcare providers.
* Conduct basic laboratory tests, such as blood draws, urinalysis, and EKGs.
* Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and availability of necessary supplies.
* Manage and update patient medical record.
* Verify and update patient record to confirm that medical records are correct and up to date, ensuring accurate billing and reimbursement.
* Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and relay messages to healthcare providers.
* Communicate with patients to schedule medical tests, procedures, and consultations based on provider recommendations.
* Provide clear and detailed information to patients regarding preparation instructions, any required pre-authorizations, and what to expect during the scheduled appointment.
* Coordinate and schedule appointments for medical tests, procedures, and consultations using scheduling software or electronic health records (EHR). Ensure optimal utilization of available resources, such as equipment and clinical staff when scheduling appointments.
* Document any changes, cancellations, or rescheduling of appointments promptly.

* Minimum Requirements:
*** Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the
** Medical Assistant (MA) Trainee Program
** for further development and reevaluation.
** Minimum of one year of experience in a medical office, clinic, or similar setting is required. This experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining manual vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g., EKGs, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).
