Quality Engineer (QE) – Deckorators Plant | Selma, AL
Deckorators is seeking a motivated and skilled Quality Engineer (QE) to join our team in Selma, Alabama
. This role plays a key part in driving product and process quality through calibration, validation, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical support to ensure manufacturing processes and final products meet quality standards.
- Perform quality inspections, data analysis, and implement quality control plans.
- Organize and manage calibration of equipment, gauges, and measurement devices.
- Lead validation activities by planning, scheduling, and tracking progress.
- Monitor systems performance and maintain documentation to ensure optimal operations.
- Develop and update Work Instructions (WI); train team members on quality tools and analysis methods.
- Manage quality lab functions and testing processes.
- Implement proactive quality strategies to move from reactive to preventive quality management.
- Support the Quality Manager in root cause analysis, audits, documentation, and investigations.
- Monitor supplier quality performance; coordinate activities related to non-conforming materials.
- Collaborate with Operations and Process teams on projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Take on additional tasks as assigned by the Quality Manager.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of experience in manufacturing, building materials, food, pharma, or a related industry.
- Familiarity with continuous process environments.
- Hands‑on experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions).
- Strong technical knowledge of quality control systems and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and team leadership capabilities.
- Flexibility to work different shifts as needed.
- Self‑driven and capable of working independently.
- Highly motivated with a positive, can‑do attitude.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Process‑focused with a desire to learn and improve.
- Team‑oriented and aligned with company goals.
- Maintains professionalism in all workplace interactions.
- Work is generally performed in a manufacturing environment, with some time spent at a desk.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and see for extended periods.
- Occasional travel may be required.
