Job SummaryUnder the direct supervision of a Radiologic Technologist, the Radiology Student performs a variety of imaging procedures while adhering to regulatory standards and facility policies. The position provides hands-on clinical training for students currently enrolled in a Radiologic Technology program, with a strong emphasis on patient safety, accurate documentation, and technical competency.
Essential Functions- Performs imaging procedures under supervision, ensuring patient safety and care quality
- Reviews patient history and physician's orders; prepares equipment and selects appropriate imaging parameters
- Follows radiation safety and infection control guidelines
- Assists with patient positioning, shielding, and education before and during procedures
- Monitors and reports patient condition changes; analyzes image quality and routes for radiologist interpretation
- Operates imaging and PACS equipment; reports malfunctions appropriately
- Maintains accurate documentation according to facility standards
- Participates in quality improvement, equipment maintenance, and restocking of supplies
- Administers contrast media when ordered and within scope of practice
- Performs additional related duties within scope of practice as assigned
- Demonstrates teamwork and prioritizes patient satisfaction
- Detail-oriented with effective multitasking and time management skills
- Self-motivated and dependable in completing tasks
- Professional demeanor in high-pressure and emergency situations
- Flexible to work schedule changes for department coverage
- Proficient in basic computer and medical software applications
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Fluent in English; additional languages preferred
- Maintains a professional appearance and safeguards patient confidentiality
- Complies with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and annual education requirements
- Physically able to perform job functions including lifting and moving patients, standing, walking, and operating equipment in clinical environments
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Radiologic Technology program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association required within time frame required by facility policy
- No prior experience required
