Job Description - OR Scrub Tech FT ) – Vaughan Regional Medical Center

• Under the supervision of a registered nurse, assist in implementing nursing care of each client, guided by established policies and procedures.
• Assist physicians and keep them informed.
• Participate in orientation of new staff.
• Support the goals of Vaughan Regional Medical Center and the Department of Nursing; assist in the attainment of these goals and objectives.
• Maintain required competency and technical skill levels as required by the position.
• Participate in the establishment of standards of practice and Performance Improvement methods to monitor achievement.
• Commit to work schedules: 6:00am-2:30pm, 6:30am-3:00pm, or 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday; must be able to rotate the call schedule including weekends.

• Education: High school graduate. Graduate of School of OR Technology desirable. Certification in OR Technology desirable. Successful completion of a skill checklist within 90 days. Possesses current CPR certification.
• Experience: Willing to accept responsibility and accountability to the unit; position requires the knowledge and skills necessary to provide nursing care appropriate to the patient population served.
• Skills: Verbal ability to present information to the team leader; ability to function in stressful situations; willingness to cross-train and float between CPS and OR units; knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile technique, decontamination, sterilization operations, and related aspects of sterile processing.
• Physical requirements: Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods, walk at least 2 hours per day, lift/carry 20 pounds, hear alarms and telephone rings, distinguish colors, perform repetitive tasks/motions, have good eye/hand/foot coordination, and have clear vision at 20 feet or more with vision correction.
