Ameri Corps Engagement Assistant - 1200 hrs
Ameri Corps invites applicants for a 1200‑hour service position committed to community outreach, housing, and economic development in Selma‑Dallas County, Alabama. The role supports the Ameri Corps Focus Area of Economic Opportunity by enhancing workforce readiness and facilitating housing assistance.
Member Duties- Assist citizens, repair houses or units, disseminate information, facilitate meetings, and support community outreach in Selma‑Dallas County.
- Work toward assisting 50 low‑income citizens with housing assistance and repairing 10 units for habitable dwelling by the end of the first program year.
- Pre‑service orientation is mandatory and must be completed before the program start date.
- Training is provided throughout the service year and may occur during orientation, meetings, or designated breaks.
- At least 75–80% of hours must involve direct or community service; 20–25% may include meetings or research with prior approval.
- Potential certifications: NCCER Electrical Level 1, NCCER Carpentry/Masonry Level 1, and Financial Literacy.
