Description

The Assistant CNO is responsible for promoting and maintaining quality patient care through effective management of the activities of the total patient care services as outlined in the Mission, and Guiding Principles. The Assistant CNO will provide leadership to all nursing staff assigned to the Designated Departments and serve as a representative on the Senior Leadership Team. This position assists the CNO with staffing, budgeting, patient, employee and physician satisfaction, monitors volume and provides education/ coaching to staff in regard to hospital policies, produces and training of new processes and equipment.

Must be able to provide leadership by working cooperatively and effectively with physicians, ancillary staff and other administrative and support personnel in maintaining the standards of professional nursing practice in the multidisciplinary clinical setting. Strives daily to give all customers very good care and promotes Vaughan Regional Medical Center standards of Behavior and other duties as assigned. Assist the CNO with clinical performances improvement projects;

assists with planning and coordination of new enhanced clinical services. Assist CNO in providing leadership to nursing that will enroll their support, create ownership of goals, and have them actively participate in decision that impact the Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Qualifications

Education: Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama. BSN required; MSN preferred.

Experience: Minimum 5 years RN experience. Must possess detailed knowledge of hospital nursing operations. Management experience required, prefer 2 years of demonstrated successful leadership in an acute‑care hospital environment.

Skills: Must possess thorough understanding of the patient care process, TJC standards, EMTALA, Federal Guidelines, and performance improvement process. Must have excellent communication skills, written and oral, excellent customer relation skills, and a desire to lead and make a difference. Must have a positive attitude, even temperament in stress/conflict situations.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods, walk at least 4 hours per day, lift/carry 10 pounds, and hear alarms and telephone rings, distinguish colours, perform repetitive tasks/motions, have good eye/hand/foot coordination, and have clear vision at 20 or more feet with or without vision corrective device.
