Position OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated Per-Diem Registered Nurse for an opening at a Medical Center in Selma, AL. In this role, you will deliver high-quality, compassionate care in a dynamic setting, managing a diverse patient population and collaborating with a skilled healthcare team.

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Active, unencumbered RN license from the state of Alabama.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 months of RN work experience.
- Technical
Skills:
Current CPR certification (Basic Life Support preferred). - Soft Skills: Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, effective communication, cultural competency, collaboration, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
- Credentialing Requirements: Clean background check, negative TB test results, annual physical, COVID-19 vaccination, and other requirements as specified by the facility or agency.
- Provide vigilant, acute post-anesthesia care by continuously monitoring vital signs, airway, and neurological status as patients recover from sedation or general anesthesia.
- Assess and manage postoperative pain, nausea, and other potential complications promptly, administering medications and interventions per physician orders and protocols.
- Evaluate patient readiness for discharge from the PACU using standardized scoring systems (e.g., Aldrete Score) and ensure stable recovery milestones are met.
- Deliver comprehensive handoff communication to the receiving nursing unit or discharge team, providing a clear report on the patient’s procedure, recovery, and ongoing care needs.
- Provide clear, supportive discharge education to patients and caregivers regarding postoperative instructions, medication management, and warning signs requiring follow-up.
