Job Description
Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including, but not limited to, telephone communication lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. The position is a key component in ensuring that the area complies with client and state requirements. Service duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations using multiple methods.
The technician will be dispatched to locate and verify for the utility customer, working independently or in a team under a supervisor. This role requires focus, skill, and the use of machinery and tools.

Requirements & Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalency (GED)
- State-issued driver's license
- Ability to problem solve and interpret multiple types of prints
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs and walk/stand for multiple hours a day
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with vacuum truck preferred (A+)
- Pass a background screening (no violations within the last 5 years)
- Pass a DOT drug test
- Locate underground facilities by using a transmitter and hooking up to buried facilities, pedestals, etc.
- Work in and walk over all types of terrain around construction zones and residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas in all weather conditions.
- Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and perform duties.
- Perform locates and emergency/on-call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as necessary.
- Complete all work in a timely, professional, and efficient manner while communicating effectively with customers, co‑employees, and third parties.
- Communicate with management, contractor, and utility customers to ensure a damage‑free environment.
- Maintain knowledge of technology and tools required for the role.
- Work collaboratively in a supervised team environment.
