The Extruder Operator is responsible for operating extruders, cutters, and conveyors—including start-up, shut-down, troubleshooting, and cleaning of each machine. This role also ensures accurate recording of production data related to the extrusion process while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency standards in accordance with Calbee’s policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect equipment daily to ensure cleanliness and proper sanitation.
- Conduct product changeovers and adjust conveyors and line configurations as needed.
- Monitor extruder operation and make necessary adjustments to maintain consistent product quality.
- Assemble and disassemble extruders in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Troubleshoot and proactively resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime.
- Train and cross-train new extruder operators to ensure operational consistency and knowledge sharing.
- Communicate effectively with production, quality, and maintenance teams to support seamless production flow and meet scheduling goals.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to all Calbee safety and sanitation standards.
- Attend and participate in all assigned training sessions related to Safety, GMPs, SOPs, HACCP, and SQF programs.
- Consistently apply learned knowledge to daily operations to uphold Calbee’s food safety and quality standards.
- Follow all safety guidelines and company policies at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
- Comply with all Plant, State, and Federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF requirements.
- Demonstrate understanding and consistent application of SQF principles.
- Participate in maintaining a culture of food safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1–2 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience with extrusion, milling, or seasoning equipment preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot machinery.
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent attendance and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively, learn multiple roles, and maintain high work standards.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new processes and apply concepts quickly.
- Desire to be a hands-on contributor within a high-performance production team.
