The Head Men’s Soccer Coach supports student-athlete academic success, recruits prospective student-athletes following the College’s mission and student-athlete recruitment procedures, and plans and directs the applicable sports program/athletic team. The Head Men’s Soccer Coach reports to the Director of Athletics.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and lead a progressive and innovative soccer program in accordance with the policies of The Mississippi Association of Community College Conference and The National Junior College Athletic Association.
  • Ensure the program adheres to the mission, vision and values of the institution.
  • Recruit student athletes of strong character, who reflect the values of the institution and are excellent representatives of the college on and off the field.
  • Along with the Athletic Academic Coordinator, track and ensure the academic success of all team players.
  • Prepare and manage the annual operating budget for the program.
  • Purchase necessary equipment and uniforms.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled practices.
  • Ensure that all soccer players meet NJCAA eligibility requirements and prepare all necessary forms (LOIs, Releases, Transfer Waivers, etc.) for submission.
  • Work with MACCC coaches and the MACCC Commissioner to develop the yearly schedule.
  • Make all travel arrangements for away games and tournaments.
  • Plan and conduct summer camps in accordance with the policies of the institution.
  • With the assistance of the Director of Athletics engage in fundraising activities for the team and the athletic program as a whole.
  • Effectively communicate to Director of Athleticsregarding the activities of the soccer team.
  • Work closely with the Director of Athleticsto promote the program.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
    • Comprehensive knowledge of soccer rules, strategies, techniques, and NCAA/NAIA conference regulations (or your institution’s governing body).
    • Demonstrated ability to develop, plan, and implement effective training sessions, conditioning programs, and competitive game strategies.
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate student-athletes, promote academic success, and foster positive team culture.
    • Working knowledge of player safety protocols, sports medicine guidelines, and injury-prevention practices.
    • Ability to recruit, evaluate, and retain student-athletes in alignment with institutional standards and compliance requirements.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills to engage effectively with athletes, staff, faculty, and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to manage program budgets, equipment inventory, travel schedules, and administrative documentation.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities under deadlines.
    • Ability to model and enforce high standards of ethical conduct, sportsmanship, and compliance with institutional and athletic policies.
    • Proficiency with common office software and athletic technologies (e.g., scouting tools, video breakdown systems, team communication platforms).
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK CONDITIONS
    • Ability to stand, walk, run, and demonstrate soccer techniques for extended periods.
    • Must be able to lift, carry, or move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and physical demonstrations required during practices and conditioning sessions.
    • Ability to withstand long periods of outdoor activity in varying weather conditions.
    • Must be able to travel for recruiting, competitions, and team activities.
    • Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor athletic environments, including fields, gymnasiums, offices, and training facilities.
    • Exposure to weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, wind, and varying field conditions during practices and games.
    • Evening, weekend, and holiday work is required based on competition schedules, travel, and recruiting responsibilities.
    • Frequent travel for away competitions, scouting, and recruitment.
    • Fast-paced environment requiring quick decision-making and the ability to respond to emergencies involving player safety.
    • Interaction with diverse student-athletes, staff, parents, and community members.
    • May be required to work extended hours during peak seasons.
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Previous demonstrated experience as a soccer coach at the high school or club level,
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Master’s Degree
    • Coaching experience at the community college or university level preferred.
