Weekend Mill Assistant

Position Overview:

The Mill Assistant supports the daily operations of the mill by assisting with the setup, operation, monitoring, and maintenance of equipment used to process materials such as grain, feed, or other raw goods. This role ensures product quality and workplace safety while helping the mill run smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities Assist with the operation of milling equipment and machinery under supervision.

Load and unload materials using forklifts, conveyors, or manual labor.

Monitor equipment for proper function; report malfunctions or irregularities.

Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of mill equipment and work areas.

Set up hand adds for diets, fill the micro table and tote stations, and unload inbound ingredients.

Weigh, label, and record product quantities and lot numbers accurately.

Follow safety procedures and company policies to prevent accidents and injuries.

Assist with inventory counts and storage of raw materials and finished goods.

Communicate effectively with mill operators and supervisors regarding production flow and needs.

Support with sanitation, housekeeping, and general upkeep of the facility.

Assist in the mill and warehouse as needed.

Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Adhere to company policies, regulatory requirements and quality standards.

Perform other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous experience in a mill, manufacturing, or agricultural setting is a plus.

Ability to operate or learn to operate forklifts and other machinery safely.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

Physical ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks.

Willingness to work in a dusty, noisy, and fast-paced environment.

Flexibility to work shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed.

Working Conditions Exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.

Standing, bending, lifting, and walking throughout the shift.
