The Truck Driver is responsible for providing the customers of VVM/VVT with quality feed with personable and dependable service. The Truck Driver is responsible for using safe driving habits, while making deliveries and serving the customers of VVM/VVT.Major Duties:

Completes a daily truck log and submits reports of mileage according to state and federal regulations.

Delivers feed products to customers.

Inspects and maintains the proper maintenance of all equipment and reports equipment or mechanical failures immediately.

Maintains record of materials and products transported.

Ensures the cleanliness of the truck and product daily.

Maintains radio or telephone contact with VVM/VVT to receive instructions or be dispatched to new location.

Manages routes and routines so they proceed in the most efficient way possible.

Finds ways to conserve resources, including fuel, to benefit the business.

Maintains proper inventories at the customer level to eliminate shortages or returns.

Serves as a VVM/VVT advocate and ambassador in every interaction with clients and the public through exceptional customer service.

Conducts a mandatory daily truck and trailer inspection of the vehicle and turns report into DOT Supervisor.

Fuels truck and trailer upon return from a delivery.

Operates equipment to load, unload, or disperse product.

Obtains customer signature or collects payment for goods delivered and delivery charges.

Assists in loading and unloading truck manually.

Complies with all DOT, Federal regulations and in-house regulations, policies and rules.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.

Valid Class A driver’s license in good standing is required.

At least two (2) or more years’ commercial driving experience required.

Ability to drive a truck with capacity of more than three (3) tons to transport and deliver product.

Exceptional customer service is required.

Ability to work independently, organize, monitor and adjust work as necessary to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Ability to effectively communicate, present information and respond to questions, both in a verbal and written manner.

Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems.

Demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy when handling information and situations.

Physical Demands:

Frequently stoop, kneel, crawl and bend.

Frequently climb stairs and get up and down from the truck.

Occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) – one-hundred (100) pounds.

Finger dexterity, manual dexterity, alertness, precision, motor coordination, auditory discrimination and tactile discrimination.

Work Environment:

Warehouse environment. The noise level may require ear protection.

Frequently exposed to dust, extreme cold and extreme heat.

Occasionally enter confined spaces.

Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and vibration.

Frequent travel required.
