Position Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Seasoned Commercial HVAC Technician to join our fast‑growing STR Mechanical Team. The ideal candidate will have a can‑do attitude, strong problem‑solving skills, and an active EPA Certification.

Job Responsibilities
  • Diagnose causes of problems and/or failures in heating/air conditioning systems, refrigeration systems, and food service equipment, in order to identify repair and/or replacement needs with high accuracy.
  • Perform maintenance and service repairs, install new units, or replace parts of existing units according to specifications of 15 tons+.
  • Maintain larger preventive maintenance contracts with more than 5 units.
  • Repair or replace defective parts in units and equipment, including controls.
  • Service and troubleshoot mini‑splits and/or replace smaller RTUs and mini‑splits for 15 tons or less.
  • Communicate with Dispatch to ensure completion of scheduled jobs.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for customers.
  • Provide elite customer service to every customer encountered.
Accountabilities
  • Continual learning and development through First Call Academy to maintain industry‑leading skill level.
  • Deliver elite customer service to ensure First Call is the go‑to provider for HVAC needs.
Organizational Alignment

This position reports to the local Branch Manager and is responsible for engaging with the service team and all customers.

Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Active EPA Certification.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a commercial HVAC setting.
  • OSHA 10 Certification.
  • Manufacturer Certification preferred.
  • Availability for flexible hours and on‑call shifts as needed.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; compute rates, ratios, and percentages; interpret graphs.

Apply common sense to carry out written or oral instructions; solve problems involving multiple variables; prioritize tasks; lead and coach helpers and tech I’s.

Physical Demands

Regular use of hands; standing, walking, sitting; climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; lifting up to 50 pounds; vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and ability to adjust focus.
