Junior EIT - Mechanical Engineer

Position Overview

To support project and client development in the Sept-Îles region, BBA is seeking a candidate in mechanical engineering to bolster its local multidisciplinary team. The team works closely with BBA offices in Labrador City, Montréal and Mont-Saint-Hilaire, contributing to regional development and delivering projects in the mining, metals and energy sectors.

• Prepare technical documents for mandates related to heavy mechanics, conveyors, pumping systems, grinding mills and metallurgical processes, as well as engineering for mechanical services
• Perform detailed calculations under the supervision of experienced engineers
• Perform onsite technical information surveys
• Prepare material lists and bills of lading in accordance with codes, standards, drawings and other established procedures and within BBA’s quality system requirements
• Assist more experienced personnel with the technical aspects of complex tasks
• Occasionally coordinate the work of drafters or others, at the request of a senior engineer
• Help write technical reports
• Assist the team with technical audits at work sites
• Help supervise the work and commissioning of designed systems
• Help prepare proposals
• Participate in various project phases, from studies and detailed engineering to site support and commissioning

• University degree in mechanical engineering and a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
• Three years of experience or less
• Available for short-term work assignments between Sept-Îles and our Labrador City office, depending on business needs
• Available for short-term (up to 50 % of the time) and long-term (asset) assignments with our clients in Québec and the rest of Canada
• ASP Construction card
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite, like Excel, and other applications, databases and interfaces
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Solid Works and Navisworks applications
• Asset: experience in the heavy industry sector (mining, petrochemicals, energy, etc.)
• Asset: knowledge of Smart Plant 3D, CADWorx, ANSYS and Fathom applications
• Asset: bilingual (English and French)
