Part-Time Child Care Teacher

Position Overview

Sequim's Little Explorers Early Learning Center is hiring a full‑time Lead Teacher to work with children ages 1 month to 5 years. We are looking for dedicated educators who create a nurturing, confident, and curious environment. The role supports a strong partnership with parents, spanning from infancy through preschool.

$16.75 /hr – $19.00 /hr

• Maintain professional attitudes and loyalty to the school at all times.
• Keep children within visual and auditory range at all times, maintaining child‑to‑staff ratios.
• Adapt the program to meet emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs of both individual children and the group.
• Encourage children’s involvement in activities, exploration, problem‑solving, and cooperation.
• Prepare a warm, safe, orderly, clean, and appealing environment that permits growth and exploration.
• Plan and implement the daily program based on an emergent curriculum, allowing all team members input.
• Maintain regular communication with parents and produce monthly newsletters.
• Observe, record, and report significant individual and group behavior; keep all records and files.
• Use appropriate and positive discipline, treating all children with dignity and respect.
• Attend staff meetings, recommended training, conferences, and assist in school public relations.
• Assist the director in explaining the program to visitors and any other appropriate duties.

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Documented child‑development education or work experience, or complete Childcare Basics training within three months of hire.
• Attend college classes in the future if additional education requirements are needed; full scholarships available (compensation upon completion).
• Cleared Portable Background Check (PBC) and other required certifications (Safe Sleep for Infants, Mandated Reporter, TB test within 12 months, MMR proof, CPR, First Aid, HIV/AIDS training/Bloodborne pathogens) before starting work.
• Flexible, creative, energetic, passionate about children, and strong desire to make a difference every day.

• Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent credits.
