Admin Assistant
Salary: Kent Scheme A (FTE £26,168, pro rata £12,013 approximately), 38 weeks per year, 20 hours per week, from 1 September 2026.
Contract type: Part time (20 hours) / fixed term contract for one year. 38 weeks per year, up to 5 additional days may be required and this will be paid as overtime. Ideal working pattern:
Monday to Thursday 8.45am
-12.00pm, Friday 8am – 3.30pm (30 minutes unpaid lunch)
We are seeking a dedicated and organised Admin Assistant to join our caring primary school. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting the smooth running of our school and making a positive impact on the lives of our pupils, staff, and families. Platt Church of England Primary School is set in exceptional grounds with a modern spacious building.

Purpose of the Role:
To provide general clerical and administrative support to the school under the direction or instruction of the Office Manager and senior staff, including the Headteacher.
Key Responsibilities:
- General administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, emailing, and completing routine forms.
- Supporting school meal administration and maintaining manual and computerised records.
- Reception duties: welcoming visitors, answering calls, and handling enquiries.
- Managing incoming and outgoing mail.
- Acting as the first point of contact for sick pupils and liaising with parents/carers.
- Assisting with arrangements for school visits, meetings, and events.
- Monitoring attendance registers and preparing weekly summaries.
- Organising and replenishing stationery and first aid supplies.
- Handling online payments for school activities and maintaining simple financial records.
- Communicating with parents/carers via email and Parent Mail.
- Supporting teaching staff with school trip arrangements.
- Performing other duties as directed by the Headteacher.
What we are looking for:
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- A friendly and approachable manner.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in using IT systems and office software.
- Previous experience in a school or administrative setting is desirable but not essential, including the use of SIMS and FSM systems.
