Part‑Time SENCO – St John’s School, Sevenoaks – 3 Days Per Week for a September 2026 or January 2027 Start

We are seeking an experienced, passionate and highly organised SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to join our dedicated team on a part‑time basis (3 days per week).

About the Role:

As SENCO, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with additional needs, working closely with staff, families and external professionals to ensure inclusive, personalised and effective learning strategies are in place.

The role will be varied working across the school. It is an exciting role where you get to shape the future of our young people. Each day is a new challenge and you will make a difference to the lives of our pupils.

As SENCO, you will demonstrate our school vision and values and ensure we are fulfilling our school motto of ‘All different, all equal, all learning together in God’s world.’

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and assess pupils with SEND and coordinate appropriate provision.
  • Create and oversee Education and Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
  • Lead on SEND policy and compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Liaise with and provide guidance to parents, carers and external agencies to ensure strong partnerships.
  • Determine the strategic development of SEN policy and provision in the school.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and specific provision to support individual pupils.
  • Maintain an accurate SEND register and provision map, analysing assessment data to inform interventions.
  • Identify pupils' SEN, coordinate provision and communicate regularly with parents and carers.
  • Promote the inclusion of pupils with SEND in the school community and access to the curriculum.
  • Lead INSET training and share best practice with the staff team.
  • Line manage support staff and lead TA meetings.
We Are Looking For:
  • A qualified teacher with the National Professional Qualification for SEN (or willingness to obtain it).
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
