MDE are partnering with a leading renewable energy organisation delivering innovative onsite energy solutions across the UK. With ambitious growth plans and a strong commitment to decarbonisation, they are seeking an experienced Business Development Director to shape and lead their commercial strategy.

The Opportunity

As Business Development Director, you will play a pivotal role in building and converting a strong pipeline of opportunities across the commercial and industrial sectors. You’ll lead from the front — developing key client relationships, shaping complex sales cycles and guiding a high-performing team to deliver sustainable growth.

Working closely with colleagues across sales, delivery and asset management, you’ll provide strategic insight into market trends, customer needs and emerging technologies to refine and strengthen the organisation’s commercial offering.

This is a senior leadership position with significant impact, based primarily in Kent with hybrid flexibility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and manage a robust pipeline of onsite energy opportunities
  • Lead client engagement from initial contact through to investment decision
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders and partners
  • Provide commercial leadership across sales and opportunity development
  • Contribute to strategic business planning and market positioning
  • Share insight on market trends, energy policy and technology developments
What We’re Looking For:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, renewable energy or related discipline
  • Proven track record in business development and revenue growth
  • Strong understanding of onsite energy technologies (e.g. solar PV, battery storage, distributed energy solutions)
  • Knowledge of UK energy market dynamics and policy landscape
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing commercial teams
  • Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Analytical, data-driven approach to commercial decision-making
  • Ability to build and sustain long-term strategic relationships
