Temporary Contract – Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer
A temporary opportunity is available for an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer to support the delivery of major new-build projects across London and the South East.
This contract role will focus on the design and coordination of large-scale residential and mixed-use developments, working closely with senior engineers to ensure high-quality technical delivery across multiple live schemes.
Project Exposure
Current projects include:
* Large-scale new-build residential developments
* Major mixed-use schemes
* High-value, technically complex projects across London and the South East
These schemes provide strong technical challenge and exposure to substantial urban developments.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the design of mechanical building services systems including HVAC, public health systems, and associated plant
* Produce mechanical design calculations, specifications, and technical reports
* Develop and coordinate detailed drawings and BIM models
* Work collaboratively with electrical engineers, architects, structural engineers, and contractors
* Attend design meetings and site visits as required
* Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations and relevant industry standards
* Support senior engineers in delivering projects to programme and budget
* Maintain high standards of technical accuracy and documentation
Technical Requirements
Applicants must demonstrate:
* Experience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy environment
* Exposure to new-build residential or mixed-use developments (desirable)
* Proficiency in Revit (MEP)
* Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD
* Solid understanding of HVAC design principles, including heat loss/gain calculations and ventilation strategies
* Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE guidance
* Ability to produce calculations and technical documentation with appropriate supervision
A degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Progress toward IEng or CEng accreditation would be advantageous.
Role Overview
This temporary position offers the opportunity to contribute to technically demanding projects within a professional and collaborative engineering environment. The role would suit an intermediate-level engineer capable of supporting complex project delivery and maintaining strong technical standards throughout the design process.
Contract duration and rate negotiable depending on experience.
