Location:

Sevenoaks, Kent

Full-Time | 40 Hours over 4 Days | Permanent | Rota including some Weekends & OOH

At Pennard Vets, we believe every pet deserves care beyond the ordinary. We’re seeking a compassionate and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse who thrives in a client-facing role and has a strong interest in nurse-led clinics — a passion for feline care would be fantastic too. You’ll deliver consultations, support preventative healthcare, help design and implement advanced nurse-led clinics, and play an exciting role in developing our dedicated feline stream within our multidisciplinary small animal hospital.

THE ROLE

As our Senior Consulting Nurse, you’ll take on a department lead position — championing preventative care, building meaningful client relationships, collaborating with the first opinion and specialist veterinary team and playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of nurse-led services at Pennard Vets.

This is a full-time position working 40 hours across 4 days, offering an excellent work-life balance. The role includes participation in a rota with some weekends, bank holidays, and out-of-hours shifts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the nursing consulting department, setting standards and driving clinical excellence across nurse-led services
  • Design, develop, and implement advanced nurse-led clinics that elevate clinical standards and client engagement
  • Contribute to the exciting development of a dedicated feline hospital within our existing site, helping to shape a gold-standard cat care environment
  • Deliver nurse-led consultations including preventative healthcare and senior wellness as well as dedicated clinics for medical management plans and post-surgical care
  • Support consulting veterinary surgeons during appointments, ensuring efficient workflow and excellent client experience
  • Support clients with empathy and professionalism, including during sensitive situations
  • Uphold excellent infection control standards
  • Take ownership of the in-house laboratory, ensuring accurate diagnostics, quality control, and efficient workflows
ABOUT YOU
  • RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • A genuine passion for client-facing work and building trusted relationships
  • A particular interest in feline nursing and cat-friendly care
  • Confidence running nurse-led consultations independently with strong clinical reasoning
  • Leadership experience or a readiness to step into a department lead role
  • Experience with in-house laboratory diagnostics and quality assurance
  • Enthusiasm for developing and growing nurse-led clinic services
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Calm, professional, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Passionate about animal welfare and continuous professional development
WHY JOIN PENNARD VETS?
  • 4-Day Working Week — 40 hours across 4 days for a genuinely better work-life balance
  • Fair Weekend Rota — 1 in 6 Saturday mornings, 1 in 12 on-call weekends (supplemented)
  • CPD & Growth — Real commitment to your professional development and career progression
  • Supportive Team — A collaborative, friendly environment
  • Feline Hospital Development — A rare opportunity to help shape and build a dedicated feline hospital from the ground up
  • Progressive Practice — Contribute to a forward-thinking practice that values innovation
  • Outstanding Facilities — Modern clinical environment with advanced diagnostics including MRI and CT imaging, mechanical ventilation, and access to a diverse team of specialists
