To lead the inspection, assessment, design and remediation of bridge and infrastructure assets including report writing & client handover. To provide project management & technical leadership across projects and act as a key interface between clients, contractors and stakeholders.
A hybrid role combining office-based engineering, site inspections, client meetings and project delivery activities.
LocationProject-based work across the UK, with a significant focus on the Severn Bridges and major infrastructure projects.
Working Hours48 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities- Lead structural inspections, assessments and investigations of bridge and infrastructure assets including client reporting.
- Plan and deliver Post-Tensioning Special Inspections (PTSI).
- Review inspection findings and determine defect severity, causes and remediation requirements.
- Provide technical leadership to inspection teams and junior engineers.
- Undertake structural assessments in accordance with DMRB, Eurocodes and client requirements.
- Develop repair, strengthening and remediation solutions including heavy lifting & jacking.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously including programme, budget and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and project procedures.
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients, contractors and asset owners.
- Mentor graduate and junior engineers and support chartership development.
- BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) preferred or actively working towards chartership.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in bridge, civil or structural engineering.
- Experience undertaking structural inspections and assessments.
- Experience producing technical reports and engineering calculations.
- Experience working on UK infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), Eurocodes and relevant British Standards.
- Competent in structural analysis software.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Strong technical report writing skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Commercial awareness and project management capability.
- Ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary teams.
Salary: £50,000 – £70,000+ per annum depending upon experience, chartered status and responsibilities.
