Job Purpose and Summary
At CVS Health, we are transforming health care for our customers and creating a great workplace. The Pharmacy Technician (Technician) supports our pharmacy teams to deliver operational and service excellence at each retail location.
Responsibilities- Live the purpose by rigorously following all company SOPs at each workstation.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off stations to ensure safe, accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Deliver positive patient experiences by showing empathy, creating personalized moments, and providing immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone.
- Complete required inventory activities – putting away medication deliveries, performing cycle counts and returns‑to‑stock, waiting bin inventories, and related tasks.
- Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, accept feedback, and pursue opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntary travel to other stores in the market.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles, ensuring patient safety, controlled‑substance dispensing, record‑keeping, and privacy protection.
- Deliver additional patient health‑care services – immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and voluntary off‑site clinic staffing – within legal and training limits.
- Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status for vaccine preparation and administration.
- Educate patients about vaccine importance and refer questions to the pharmacist‑on‑duty.
- Monitor adverse reactions and report events per public health requirements.
- Collect and document patient information for vaccine tracking.
- Manage and monitor vaccine supplies.
- Meet state board of pharmacy requirements or laws – generally qualified to be at least 16 years old, high‑school diploma or equivalent, or currently enrolled in an eligible program.
- State‑level licensure and national certification, varying by state.
- Regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention to detail: focus on tasks, quick task pivoting, prescription verification, and label accuracy.
- Excellent customer service and teamwork, actively helping patients and colleagues in a friendly manner.
- Robust communication skills: verbal, written, active listening, and appropriate questioning.
- Solve problems: identify challenging interactions, evaluate options, and select optimal solutions.
- Physical demands: mobility, lifting items up to 20 lbs, reaching overhead, repetitive finger movements, precise machine adjustments, and clear vision needed for detailed tasks.
- Additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
- 1–3 years experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Willingness to work in the home store and across the market.
