Driver - Recovery

About the Job

The Driver is responsible for coordinating and safely transporting clients to and from facility programming, including appointments, activity trips, airport shuttle service and other special events, in a punctual and timely manner. The Driver also provides monitoring and reporting of client behaviors, crisis situations, and medical emergencies as needed as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team and transports visitors or staff as required.

• Drive company vehicles to transport clients for admissions, appointments, activity trips, discharges, and other special events in a punctual and timely manner.
• Pick up or transport visitors or staff as needed.
• Ensure all passengers are wearing seatbelts before the vehicle is started.
• Maintain constant awareness and supervision of clients while transporting them, complying with all company safety policies and practices and addressing any safety issue by resolving or notifying appropriate persons for assistance as necessary.
• Serve as a positive role model for clients and peers, providing examples of appropriate behaviors, effective communication, and conflict resolution. Encourage open, honest communication to facilitate problem solving on the unit, during transport, and when attending off‑unit activities.
• Chart in client records as appropriate and/or assigned.
• Provide a verbal report/briefing to the oncoming shift.
• Respond to and adhere to the “on‑call” schedule as required.
• Accurately and appropriately complete all transportation documentation.
• Maintain vehicle log(s) and report maintenance issues to appropriate facility staff.
• Ensure all company vehicles are kept clean and functional; maintain vehicles in safe condition and keep records of vehicle maintenance.
• Respond to units to assist in behavioral events when needed.
• Drive company facility vehicle to pick‑up supplies or equipment, as needed.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One or more years of relevant work experience in a behavioral facility preferred.
• Valid and in‑good‑standing state driver's license required.
• CPR and de‑escalation certification may be required (training available upon hire and offered by the facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
