What You Will Be Doing:Alaska Vocational Technical Center (AVTEC), a division of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, is recruiting for an AVTEC Instructor who will be responsible for planning, developing, and delivering instruction in the Industrial Electricity and Building Trades programs as an Industrial Electricity Instructor. Duties will include learning, maintaining and developing program curriculum; designing, building, and maintaining the practical industry-based labs and shop areas;
facilitating program advisory board meetings; and maintaining student training records.
The Alaska Vocational Technical Center (AVTEC) trains Alaskans for work in the trades. Our motto is "start a career in less than a year" and the mission is to deliver flexible, accessible and affordable workforce training that is responsive to the dynamic needs of business and industry and service Alaska's diverse communities. The mission is realized through our day to day operations where staff and instructors collaborate to ensure the success of AVTEC students in completing training and securing employment post training.

As a member of the staff at a division of the State of Alaska, you are employed by the State of Alaska and as such are offered paid leave accrual, retirement and health benefits. The nature of the calendar year at AVTEC provides opportunity to travel to remote locations to bring training to Alaskans. You and your dependents have access to AVTEC recreational facilities and AVTEC tuition waivers are available for your dependents for training.

Four years of journey-level trade experience in the applicable field.
OR SUBSTITUTION:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in the applicable field; AND Two years of journey-level trade experience in the applicable field; AND Two years professional experience developing, coordinating, and presenting adult training or vocational education programs.
OR SUBSTITUTION:
An industry recognized professional certification in the applicable field; AND Two years of journey-level trade experience in the applicable field; AND Two years professional experience developing, coordinating, and presenting adult training or vocational education programs.
