The role of the Maintenance Technician involves working on all mechanical and equipment issues, preventive maintenance, and minor electrical repairs as needed. The technician must understand the function and construction of equipment and machines, and will communicate regularly with employees and management on equipment status.

• Perform preventive maintenance on machinery in line with established programs and schedules. Accurately diagnose and troubleshoot machine problems to prevent serious mechanical failures.
• Perform mechanical as well as electrical installations and repairs on all machinery throughout the plant.
• Maintain proper records on all machines and maintenance work. Assist in establishing and maintaining a spare parts inventory, specifying and communicating spare parts needing procurement.
• Perform maintenance on all safety guards and devices, including wiring of all electrical devices to meet NEC codes, and troubleshoot PLC‑controlled equipment.
• Comply with established LOTO safety procedures. Work with the Safety Coordinator and Plant Engineer on ergonomic and equipment modifications as needed.

In performing their responsibilities, employees are expected to perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision, interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers, work effectively as a team contributor and independently while understanding the necessity for communication with other employees and throughout Scoular.

• 1–3 years of Maintenance Technician experience, food industry experience preferred.
• Associate’s degree in industrial maintenance or a similar field preferred.
• Experience working with industrial electronics and PLC preferred.
• Proficient in using computers (e.g., Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

• This position will require frequent work indoors and outdoors in varied environments such as a cooled sanitary environment with temperatures 45° F or below, and outside in hot summer and cold winter temperatures.
• Exposure to loud production equipment infrequently.
• Occasional exposure to high, precarious places (e.g., roofs) infrequently.
