Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coordinator

The Naugatuck Valley Health District is seeking a full-time (35 hours per week) Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coordinator / Medical Reserve Corps Coordinator. This position will encompass planning and implementation of preparedness activities focused on the Fifteen Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Capabilities for a local public health district serving six municipalities with approximately 127,000 residents. This position reports to the District Director of Health and is responsible for a full range of preparedness activities (e.g., plan development, training, communications, drills, and volunteer coordination) to ready the district response to public health emergencies including natural and manmade disasters.

• Plan, develop, and implement public health preparedness activities and response plans.
• Coordinate training, communications, drills, and volunteer management, including Medical Reserve Corps coordination.
• Support readiness efforts for natural and manmade public health emergencies for six municipalities.

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, emergency management, or related field; experience in a public health agency, preparedness field, or comparable setting.
• Master’s degree is a plus.
• Strong planning background and emergency response orientation is desirable.

• Full-time position (35 hours per week).
• Funded with grants and eligible for benefits of a full-time employee in accordance with the District’s Personnel Policies.
• Continued employment is contingent upon availability of funding and performance.
