Environmental Manager – Manufacturing Operations

Location: Seymour, IN Type: Full-Time, Onsite Salary Range: $115,000 – $130,000 (based on experience)
Relocation: Assistance available

Overview

We are looking for an accomplished Environmental Manager to lead compliance and sustainability programs for a large-scale manufacturing facility. This role requires a hands-on leader with deep technical expertise in air and water regulations, hazardous waste management, and environmental systems within a production setting. The right candidate will balance day-to-day operational oversight with long-term strategic planning, ensuring both compliance and measurable progress toward sustainability goals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with Title V air permits, emissions monitoring, and regulatory reporting.
  • Oversee SPCC plans, stormwater programs, and water compliance activities.
  • Manage RCRA hazardous waste and DOT hazardous materials processes.
  • Direct solid and hazardous waste programs, including oversight of wastewater treatment operations.
  • Lead a team of three direct reports, including analysts and recycling/waste operations staff.
  • Serve as the environmental subject matter expert during audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
  • Partner with health and safety teams to support OSHA compliance and integrated risk management initiatives.
  • Champion sustainability projects and develop initiatives aligned with long-term corporate environmental goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of professional environmental experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of air and water regulations, including Title V permitting, SPCC, stormwater, and waste programs.
  • Experience managing wastewater treatment systems is highly desirable.
  • Background in DOT compliance, RCRA protocols, and sustainability frameworks.
  • Strong leadership skills with prior experience supervising direct reports.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • A practical, hands-on approach—engineers, technicians, or mechanically inclined professionals are encouraged to apply.

Additional Information

  • This position is 100% onsite and requires active engagement with plant operations.
  • Responsible for reporting compliance metrics to local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Oversight of contracted wastewater treatment operations is included.
  • Collaborates with health and safety engineers on site-wide risk assessments.
