At IHC, a Federally Qualified Health Center, we specialize in integrated care, offering primary medical, dental, and behavioral healthcare services through ten healthcare centers, eight Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) nutrition program locations, a Mobile Health Unit, and in‑house Pharmacy services to community‑based patients throughout Indiana.
Job SummaryThe Pharmacist fulfills the medication and information needs of patients in an outpatient setting, including providing discounted medications through programs such as the 340B Drug Pricing Program. This role ensures compliance with federal and state laws while supporting IHC’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities- Preparing drugs and prescription orders for collection or delivery
- Overseeing the ordering of equipment and supplies
- Controlling inventory
- Applying best‑practice protocols when storing prescription drugs and controlled substances
- Verifying prescription details with the healthcare specialists who prescribed them when required
- Maintaining an approved drug and controlled substances list and verifying expiry dates
- Monitoring product displays, shelves, and the general appearance of the pharmacy
- Addressing customers’ requests and complaints
- Keeping accurate records of inventory, patient information, and insurance claims
- Maintaining the retail pharmacy
- Providing telepharmacy support
- Collaborating with the Pharmacy Manager on the progress and needs of the pharmacy staff
- Ensuring pharmacy services are in line with state and federal requirements
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of pharmacology and drug safety
- Advanced understanding of storage protocols for controlled substances
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
- Ability to learn and use multiple pharmacy software systems
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
- A Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm
D) accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education - State‑approved license to practice as a pharmacist
- Five years of pharmacy experience in a retail setting, including prescription filling and verification, records and legal compliance, pharmacy operations, pharmacy software, and technology systems and insurance
- Certified immunizer
- Experience with administering the 340B program (preferred)
- Experience in a Community Health Center (preferred)
