The IT Director is a key organizational leader responsible for managing all IT operational functions while providing strategic leadership to optimize MEDITECH Expanse and advance digital transformation initiatives. This role acts as the strategic bridge between clinical practice, operational priorities, and technical capabilities, directly contributing to improving patient experience, clinical quality, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities- Lead MEDITECH Expanse optimization strategy post–go‑live, including workflow standardization, release readiness, build validation, testing, training, and adoption.
- Design and improve clinical workflows to enhance provider and nursing usability and reduce documentation burden.
- Implement digital tools and AI‑enabled solutions such as ambient documentation, workflow automation, and intelligent assistants.
- Evaluate and introduce technologies that streamline communication, reduce wait times, and improve care coordination.
- Collaborate with providers, APPs, nursing, and clinical departments to identify workflow barriers and lead efficiency reviews.
- Govern EHR initiatives through the Clinical Steering Committee and related optimization teams, maintaining transparent prioritization.
- Lead structured change management to ensure successful adoption with minimal disruption to patient care.
- Manage IT operations, clinical informatics, application support, and optimization teams; promote teamwork, accountability, innovation, and service excellence.
- Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, nursing, business, or a related healthcare field. - Preferred:
Advanced degree in a related field. - Five years of leadership experience in a hospital-based healthcare IT environment.
- Proven experience leading MEDITECH Expanse optimization projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Experience managing an IT department—including operations, personnel, budgeting, and projects.
- Strong track record of delivering projects on time and on budget.
