About the Integrated Public Safety Commission (IPSC):

The IPSC facilitates statewide public safety communications. IPSC provides interoperable and reliable public safety communications systems to all Hoosier first responders and public safety professionals for use during routine, emergency, and task force situations. Our goal is to strengthen community safety and security by minimizing the financial and technological barriers to interoperable communications through interagency cooperation.

Role Overview:

In this position, you will perform routine maintenance and repairs to remote public safety communications site infrastructure. This position will primarily work with servicing and repairing onsite generators and HVAC units. Secondary duties of this role will employ the individual for radio site and communications equipment maintenance. This can include servicing equipment supporting two-way radios and microwave radios such as power supplies, rectifiers, batteries, and dehydrators.

Additionally, this role would include general building maintenance such as electrical and lighting, doors and seals, baseboards, etc. This is a field position that will be working within the southeastern region in Indiana. Travel is required. Candidates who have experience maintaining/and or updating HVAC units and maintaining/and or updating communication site generators are encouraged to apply.

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

• Coordinates and facilitates timely repairs ensuring the availability of technology related systems and office equipment.
• Ensures agency employees are equipped with the necessary wireless communications including cellular phones, pagers, PDA’s, etc.
• Makes recommendations for purchases concerning data communications and telephony systems and equipment and services.
• Participates in the development of communications and telephony technical standards and policies.
• Recommends and facilitates quality improvement efforts;
• Tests, adjusts and troubleshoots equipment.
• Promotes the utilization of technical services to resolve business issues within the agency.
• Participates in the development of communications and telephony requirements based on customer needs.
• Serves as consultant to agency employees on how to use and program communications and telephony equipment.
• Some essential functions of this position may be performed onsite at the agency’s worksite or other assigned worksites while some essential functions of this position may be eligible for work from home authorization in accordance with policy. Remote work authorization is not automatic and is dependent upon operational needs and agency approval.
