DT Technician – Shaftesbury School, Dorset Council

Salary:
Grade 5, Point 5-6: £6,734 – £6,841 per annum (subject to experience)

Contract:

Permanent, 11.5 hours per week, 38.4 weeks a year (term time plus 4 inset days)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Design & Technology (DT) Technician to join our thriving secondary school. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high‑quality DT lessons across a range of specialisms.

Successful Candidate Will
  • Prepare, set up, and maintain tools, machinery, and materials for practical lessons.
  • Ensure classrooms, workshops, and equipment are safe, clean, and well‑stocked.
  • Support teaching staff and students during practical sessions when required.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain records.
  • Assist with displays, demonstrations, and project work where appropriate.

We are looking for someone with high expectations, who can motivate and organise, and who will go the extra mile to contribute to the school team and beyond.

The school offers a range of facilities including fully resourced library, staff gym, industrial hospitality facility, ICT suites, and a staff café. It also provides a support programme for students and a well‑being charter for staff.

This role is UK‑based. Your right to work will need to be established as part of the appointment process. The post is subject to safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check and Children’s Barred List check.
