Summary

The Foreman is the company field point of contact for self-performed field labor activities and is responsible for ensuring that each project is safely completed on time and under budget while meeting management and customer objectives for safety, quality, and schedule. The Foreman performs production work and leads, directs, and trains Greystone craft personnel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Take complete and total charge of the day-to-day production field operations for the project while meeting safety, quality, and schedule objectives.
  • Coordinate with Greystone Office to ensure that the appropriate staff, equipment, and materials are on hand to safely complete quality work on time.
  • Enforce all company safety policies, OSHA policies, and other applicable safety regulations, and hold toolbox safety meetings weekly.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of labor, equipment, materials, and other resources.
  • Optimize production activities for safety, schedule, cost-effectiveness, operational ease, and profit.
  • Coordinate the efforts of Greystone craft personnel to ensure work complies with standards and contract requirements.
  • Ensure all assigned equipment is operational, maintained, and in good working condition.
  • Understand project scope and estimated labor hours to manage project completion within scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Use ingenuity and creativity to solve field issues.
  • Attend pre-install or other applicable meetings.
  • Conduct team meetings to provide clear communication between all members and assign tasks and responsibilities.
  • Work with government authorities to obtain all necessary project inspections and occupancy approvals.
  • Document and coordinate with Greystone Office for any project changes that may affect schedule, design, scope, or cost.
  • Maintain jobsite safety and cleanliness.
  • Manage the project closeout and punch list.
  • Perform additional tasks as requested by management.
Relationship Management
  • Work professionally with clients, vendors, employees, and neighbors.
  • Maintain relationships with neighboring construction sites.
  • Build long-lasting relationships with customers and subcontractors built on trust and delivering results.
Technology
  • Utilize appropriate business software and forms, including construction management software, time management software, and electronic communications.
Technical
  • Demonstrate high competency in the chosen trade.
  • Prepare and communicate pre-task plans.
  • Understand and communicate plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Know current construction means, methods, and procedures and direct crew to perform to these standards.
  • Perform accurate layout using standard industry tools.
  • Understand basic building codes.
  • Improve personal, technical, and supervisory skills through continuing education, training, or professional organizations.
Prospecting / Business Development
  • Promote the company through a professional attitude and positive representation.
Qualifications
  • Five (5) years’ experience with a general contractor who self-performs concrete, masonry, carpentry, or pre-engineered building construction.
  • OSHA 10 and first aid required; OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Associate degree in Construction preferred.
  • Direct supervisory skills and experience with managing construction crews, including training, assigning labor, providing safety/OSHA instruction, performing cost control, and maintaining documentation.
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and problem solving.
  • Aptitude for building excellent relationships with internal and external partners.
