Northland Concrete & Masonry (NCM) is a leading commercial concrete and masonry contractor specializing in complex commercial, industrial, institutional, and large-scale construction projects. Our work includes structural concrete, foundations, slabs, formwork, masonry, and specialty scopes.
We're looking for a Project Engineer / BIM Modeler who enjoys the intersection of technology and construction and wants to see their work directly influence how projects are planned and built.
At Northland, BIM isn't just about creating models in an office. Our models, drawings, layouts, and technical information are used by the people actually building the project. You'll work closely with Project Managers, Estimators, Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, suppliers, and other trades to turn plans into practical solutions in the field.
What You'll DoIn this role, you'll be involved throughout the project lifecycle—from estimating and preconstruction through coordination, scheduling, construction, and closeout.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop and maintain 2D layouts and 3D BIM models using Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, or similar software.
- Review drawings and models to identify coordination, constructability, scope, and design issues before they reach the field.
- Coordinate Northland's work with structural steel, precast, elevators, anchor bolts, and other trades.
- Prepare and track RFIs, drawing revisions, ASIs, submittals, and scope changes
. - Create construction visuals, layouts, elevations, and models that provide field teams with practical information.
- Support quantity takeoffs, estimating, bids, change orders, and preconstruction activities
. - Assist with project sequencing, scheduling, site logistics, manpower planning, and material coordination.
- Provide technical support to Foremen, Superintendents, Project Managers, and Estimators throughout construction.
- Help identify and resolve field issues by translating drawings and BIM models into practical construction solutions.
- Maintain organized project documentation using Plan Grid or similar construction management platforms.
We're looking for someone who is detail-oriented, technically capable, analytical, and comfortable working in both an office and construction environment.
Experience with some of the following is highly valued:
- Commercial construction
- Concrete and/or masonry construction
- BIM/VDC
- Revit
- AutoCAD
- Sketch Up
- Construction drawings and specifications
- Quantity takeoffs
- Construction coordination and constructability review
- Shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals
- Project scheduling and sequencing
- Plan Grid or similar construction management software
You don't necessarily need experience in every area listed above. We're interested in people who bring strong technical skills, construction knowledge, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
The Person We're Looking ForThe right person for Northland is someone who:
- Enjoys solving problems and figuring out how things come together.
- Can read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Is comfortable working with both 2D drawings and 3D models
. - Pays close attention to details and takes ownership of their work.
- Communicates effectively with both office and field teams.
- Can manage multiple priorities and project deadlines.
- Enjoys collaborating with Project Managers, Estimators, Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, and other trades.
- Wants to understand how construction actually happens
, not just how it looks on paper.
This role provides a unique opportunity to develop a broad understanding of commercial construction while working at the intersection of BIM, project engineering, estimating, and field operations
.
You'll gain exposure to the full project lifecycle and have the opportunity to grow your career in areas such as:
