The Junior Structural Designer collaborates with the Structural Designers to develop innovative and cost‑effective temporary and semi‑permanent POP displays, store signage, decor, and packaging using various substrates. This position is responsible for assisting in the design process from conception to execution, ensuring that the client expectations are met while adhering to safety standards and deadlines. An additional preferred skill set includes production art and graphic design, supporting the creation of original and adapted content for prototypes.
Responsibilities- Assist with design, developing, and outputting dimensional mock‑ups of POP displays and packaging (folding cartons) utilizing Artios
CAD, Adobe CC, various CNC cutters, color printers, and materials. - Assist with creating and maintaining procedural, instructional, and technical documentation as required.
- Assist Structural Designers to work directly with Account Executives and Account Managers across Imagine to efficiently execute structural design projects.
- Work collaboratively with creative design team members for rapid ideation and iterative development.
- Collaborate with production departments to optimize designs for Imagine’s production capabilities.
- Assist Structural Designers in consulting with the estimating and production departments to minimize production complexity and costs for Imagine’s operations and clients.
- Work with Structural Designers to meet and work closely with clients as needed, consistently providing consultative, ethical, and professional support.
- Participate in and adhere to the implementation of process improvements, including data collection, standardized procedures, automation tools, and technology updates.
- Develop expertise to identify, translate, and implement factors critical to quality as determined by project stakeholders.
- Develop skills and expertise to design both POP displays and packaging projects as demand requires.
- Author and build instruction sheets for clients and other third parties to assemble designs.
- Develop innovative and strategic structural design solutions across various mediums, from concept to implementation, that translate, support, and activate our clients’ brands.
- Oversee the production of your design project deliverables while coordinating internal communication and necessary updates to project timelines.
- Provide perspectives on practical design options for both internal discussion and client meetings.
- Research and incorporate industry trends and technologies, including innovations in printing, design, and graphics.
- Travel locally or nationally as needed to accompany Structural Designers and Account Executives to audit customer locations, present new products or designs to clients or prospects.
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, packaging, or merchandising design
- Demonstrated proficiency in CAD design software and tools, as well as the creation of typical outputs
- Designing with multiple materials (e.g., plastics, paperboard, corrugated, motion, lights)
