Senior Test Lab Engineer

Job Summary

Northcroft Data Center Cooling, a Madison Industries company, is seeking a Senior Test Lab Engineer to join our Thermal Test Lab. The role requires extensive laboratory or HVACR field experience, the ability to lead complex HVACR system testing, and to mentor junior engineers. You will operate and maintain laboratory equipment, execute testing standards, analyze thermodynamic, mechanical, and electrical data, manage multiple projects, and collaborate with engineering, sales, and procurement teams.

• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and manage machine calibration.
• Execute thermodynamic, mechanical, and electrical tests on HVACR systems such as evaporative coolers, fan‑coil conditioners, and coolant distribution units.
• Design test fixtures, ductwork, controls, and measurement devices.
• Develop and follow test schedules, troubleshoot issues, analyze results, and report findings.
• Conduct witness testing for authority approval at facility or agency sites.
• Mentor junior test engineers and model best‑practice conduct.
• Collaborate with design, sales, procurement, and other departments to support product development.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Lab Director.

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 8+ years of engineering experience; HVAC experience strongly preferred.
• Leadership ability, strategic thinking, problem‑solving, and innovative solution skills.
• Experience with LabVIEW or similar data acquisition systems.
• Knowledge of industry regulations and standards, including ASHRAE/AMCA/ISO/ANSI/ARI.
• Self‑starter who works cross‑functionally.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• MS or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering.
• Prior experience in an HVAC laboratory environment.
• Familiarity with AHRI rating criteria.
