Sr Process Controls EngineerDesigns, develops, and troubleshoots electronic systems, components, or circuits for use within a manufacturing environment. Applies principles and techniques of electrical or controls engineering to improve equipment reliability, institute innovative solutions, and achieve company goals. Works alone or as a team member to manage projects from conception to execution.
Main Position Responsibilities- Design and layout installation of electrical and electronic equipment associated with a manufacturing production line, including 480 V 3‑phase power distribution, 120 V 1‑phase power, 24 V DC, PLC and communication networks.
- Prepare purchase requisitions for materials and labor required for installations.
- Supervise installation of electrical and electronic equipment.
- Utilize schematics, drawings, wiring diagrams and instruction manuals to install and repair electrical and electronic control systems.
- Utilize DMM, ammeter, oscilloscope and other engineering tools to troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment, controls and automation.
- Troubleshoot existing equipment including PLCs with associated I/O and communications, servo drive systems, motion control systems, wiring/cabling, and other electronics commonly found in manufacturing environments.
- Utilize latest software and automation devices and equipment to develop creative solutions to support operational needs.
- Commission and fine‑tune control systems, working individually or as part of a team of engineers, technicians, and contractors.
- Examine needs on new equipment, calculate costs and help prepare projects for presentation, approval and execution.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred; minimum 7‑10 years of experience in engineering or related manufacturing area. Controls engineering experience may substitute for degree.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and instruction manuals.
- Demonstrated project management and troubleshooting ability.
- 30‑40 % travel required.
- PC skills including AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, Studio 5000, HMI interfaces (Pro Face, FTView ME/SE), VFDs (Power Flex 525, Yaskawa V1000, Leroy Somer Digi Drive) and networking equipment.
- Ability to perform Root Cause Analysis and develop action plans from findings.
- Installation, programming, troubleshooting of automation axis controls.
- Preference for experience with glass manufacturing equipment such as Emhart, Heye, Tiama and automated palletizers.
