The successful candidate will deliver engaging and challenging English lessons that develop students' reading, writing, speaking and listening skills, while fostering a genuine love of literature and language. The school follows a curriculum informed by the US Common Core State Standards (CCSS), and the successful applicant will help students develop strong literacy skills, critical thinking and effective communication.
Working within a collaborative English department, the teacher will create a supportive and stimulating classroom environment that encourages students to express their ideas confidently, explore a range of literary texts and develop their abilities as independent readers and writers.

Position Requirements

work experience We are seeking a creative and student-focused English teacher with strong subject knowledge and a commitment to high-quality teaching and learning. The successful candidate will have experience teaching middle school students, be familiar with the Common Core State Standards and demonstrate the ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs. Experience in a bilingual or international school environment would be advantageous.
The ideal candidate will be collaborative, reflective and enthusiastic about developing students' literacy, confidence and critical thinking skills.

Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in English, English Literature, Education or a related discipline.
- A recognised teaching qualification, such as PGCE, QTS, a relevant state teaching licence or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience teaching English at middle school or lower secondary level.
- Familiarity with the US Common Core State Standards (CCSS) would be highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of reading comprehension, writing instruction, grammar, vocabulary development and literary analysis.
- The ability to plan engaging lessons that support students with different levels of English proficiency.
- Excellent classroom management, communication and organisational skills.
- A commitment to collaborative working, professional development and student-centred learning.
- A commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing and inclusive educational practice.
