Senior Accountant (Construction)

Position:
Senior Accountant / Project Accountant

Core Focus:
Cost Control, Progress Billings, and Financial Reporting

• Oversee day‑to‑day financial operations and project accounting processes.
• Monitor and analyze actual project costs against estimated budgets.
• Allocate overheads, equipment costs, and labor expenses to proper cost centers.
• Review, verify, and process subcontractor payment certificates (progress billings).
• Prepare client progress billings based on approved site percentages.
• Track client collections, advance payment deductions, and retention moneys.
• Manage weekly and monthly project cash flow forecasting for liquidity.
• Verify and post accurate journal entries to designated project codes.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and supplier account statement matching.
• Lead monthly and year‑end financial closings and trial balance preparation.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns in compliance with local tax regulations.
• Review site payroll, labor allocations, and WPS‑compliant salary files.
• Generate project profitability reports and variance analysis for management.
• Coordinate with external auditors to ensure smooth year‑end audit clearance.
• Maintain strict internal financial controls across all active project sites.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CMA / CPA is a plus).
• 5+ years of accounting experience, with 3+ years specifically in construction.
• Deep understanding of construction contract mechanisms and retention processing.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, financial modeling).
• Proven experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Odoo).
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to cost‑allocation details.
• Excellent communication skills to coordinate between site engineers and management.
• Strong command of English (both written business correspondence and verbal).
• Ability to handle multi‑project workloads under tight reporting deadlines.

• Accuracy and timeliness of monthly project cost variance reports.
• On‑time submission of client invoices and subcontractor payment processing.
• Precision in bank, supplier, and subcontractor ledger reconciliations.
• Zero penalties on statutory compliance (VAT filings and WPS payroll).
• Efficiency in resolving billing disputes with clients or subcontractors.
• Speed and accuracy during the month‑end and year‑end closing cycles.
