Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Academy s vocational education strategy in alignment with institutional goals and national workforce priorities.
  • Lead the planning, development, and expansion of vocational education and training programs.
  • Identify emerging industry trends and recommend new qualifications and training initiatives.
  • Establish key performance indicators and monitor departmental performance.
  • Oversee the design, review, and continuous improvement of vocational curricula and qualifications.
  • Ensure all programs are competency-based and aligned with the UAE National Qualifications Framework and relevant accreditation requirements.
  • Approve learning outcomes, assessment strategies, and training methodologies.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and graduate employability outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and quality assurance requirements.
  • Lead program accreditation, re-accreditation, and audit activities.
  • Establish and monitor quality assurance systems for vocational education.
  • Prepare reports and submissions required by regulatory authorities.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with employers, industry associations, government entities, and professional bodies.
  • Establish advisory committees to ensure industry input into vocational programs.
  • Facilitate workplace learning internships, apprenticeships, and industry-based training opportunities.
  • Represent the Academy at vocational education forums, conferences, and industry events.
  • Manage and supervise vocational education faculty, trainers, assessors, and support staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and identify professional development needs.
  • Promote innovation and best practices in vocational teaching and assessment.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor student recruitment, retention, progression, completion, and employment outcomes.
  • Ensure effective student support services for vocational learners.
  • Promote career development and employability initiatives.
  • Support Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and credit transfer processes.
  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets.
  • Ensure effective utilization of training facilities, laboratories, workshops, and equipment.
  • Participate in resource planning and procurement activities.
  • Identify opportunities for commercial training and revenue generation.
  • Lead the development and management of maritime vocational qualifications and diplomas.
  • Ensure alignment of vocational programs with STCW requirements, UAE National Qualifications Framework standards, and Ministry of Education regulations.
  • Develop articulation pathways between vocational diplomas and bachelor s degree programs.
  • Coordinate with shipping companies and maritime organizations to secure sea-training opportunities for students.
  • Support the Academy s strategy of integrating academic and vocational education pathways.
  • Contribute to the development of new maritime and logistics vocational programs that address national workforce needs.
  • Successful accreditation and compliance outcomes.
  • Graduate employment and progression rates.
  • Student retention and completion rates.
  • Number and quality of industry partnerships established.
  • Timely review and enhancement of vocational programs.
  • Revenue generated through commercial training activities.
  • Staff performance and professional development achievements.
  • Stakeholder satisfaction levels.
Qualifications Essentials
  • Master s degree in vocational education, Education, Training and Development, Workforce Development, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible experience in vocational education and training.
  • Minimum 3 years in a leadership or management position.
Preferred
  • Doctorate in Education, Vocational Education, Educational Leadership, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications in quality assurance, vocational assessment, or training management.
  • Experience working with qualifications frameworks and accreditation bodies.
